Malunion of the maxilla means the upper jaw healed improperly after a fracture, resulting in displacement. It is rated under DC 9916b based on the degree of open bite when the jaw is closed. An open bite exists when some front or back teeth do not touch when the jaw is shut.

  • This works the same way as malunion of the mandible. The key difference is it involves the upper jaw rather than the lower.
