Elbow Conditions / Tennis Elbow
Elbow conditions are rated under 38 CFR § 4.71a. DC 5155 covers radius/ulna impairment; DC 5156 covers removal of elbow head; DC 5157 covers other impairment. Limited flexion and extension of the elbow drive ratings.
VA Rating Levels
20%
Elbow flexion limited to 100 degrees or extension limited to 45 degrees. Affects lifting and reaching activity.
30%
Flexion limited to 80 degrees or extension to 55 degrees. Significantly limits lifting and overhead work.
40%
Flexion limited to 55 degrees or extension to 75 degrees. Arm nearly straightened or unable to flex well.
50%
Favorable ankylosis of the elbow at a functional angle. Arm locked but in a usable position.
60%
Unfavorable ankylosis of the elbow at a non-functional angle.
