Insomnia / Sleep Disorders

Primary insomnia is rated under 38 CFR § 4.130, Diagnostic Code 9012. The VA rates it using the General Rating Formula for Mental Disorders. Insomnia commonly exists secondary to PTSD, TBI, pain conditions, or MST.

  • Keep a sleep diary showing frequency and duration of sleep problems
  • Insomnia is commonly secondary to PTSD, chronic pain, TBI, or sleep apnea
