Morton's Disease (Metatarsalgia / Morton's Neuroma)
Morton's Disease is rated under Diagnostic Code 5279 when a small painful mass forms over the nerves between the toes, under the foot. A separate flat foot rating and this condition on the same foot is generally not allowed. However, if the veteran has a rating for plantar fasciitis with flat foot and the rating is primarily based on the plantar fasciitis and not the flat foot, then a separate evaluation for Morton's Disease is allowed.

Exam Tips & Key Evidence
- →In most cases, you can't receive both a flat foot rating and a Morton's Disease rating for the same foot.
- →There is an exception, though: if your rating is primarily for plantar fasciitis rather than flat foot, a separate Morton's Disease rating may be allowed.
