OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder)
OCD is rated under 38 CFR § 4.130, Diagnostic Code 9404, using the General Rating Formula for Mental Disorders. The VA evaluates the degree to which obsessions and compulsions disrupt work and social life.
VA Rating Levels
Mild symptoms, generally controlled by medication; work efficiency reduced only during high-stress periods.
Occasional reduction in work efficiency; chronic sleep impairment, mild memory problems, anxiety.
Reduced reliability; obsessional rituals interfere significantly with work, social relationships.
Near-continuous compulsions/obsessions, suicidal ideation, near-inability to maintain hygiene or social connections.
Total occupational and social impairment; unable to perform basic self-care.
