Raynaud's Disease (Primary)

Raynaud's disease (primary Raynaud's) is rated under DC 7124. This is the milder form that occurs without an underlying condition. Ratings are based on the presence of characteristic attacks (sequential color changes of the digits: white, blue, red) and whether digital skin changes develop. This is a presumptive condition if diagnosed within one year of separation.

VA Rating Levels

0%

Characteristic attacks occurring less than once per week, without digital skin changes.

10%

Characteristic attacks occurring one or more times per week, with skin color or temperature changes.

Exam Tips & Key Evidence

  • Primary Raynaud's disease has a lower maximum rating (10%) compared to Raynaud's syndrome (secondary), which can go up to 100%. If your condition is caused by another service-connected issue, pursue the secondary diagnosis for better rating potential.
  • This is a presumptive condition if it develops within one year of leaving service. Document any cold sensitivity that began during or shortly after military service.
  • Track your attacks in a journal, including triggers (cold weather, stress) and which digits are affected. Regular documentation supports your claim.
  • If your condition worsens over time and you develop ulcers or more frequent attacks, request a re-evaluation under the secondary Raynaud's syndrome code.
