Neurogenic bladder and urinary incontinence are rated under 38 CFR § 4.115b, Diagnostic Code 7542. Ratings reflect the degree of bladder dysfunction and ability to control urination.
VA Rating Levels
20%
Voiding dysfunction that requires wearing absorbent material occasionally; may include frequency or nocturia.
40%
Urinary frequency that requires wearing absorbent materials, or intermittent catheterization 3–4 times per day; significant limitation.
60%
Continuous urine leakage requiring wearing absorbent material at all times.

- →Bladder conditions are common secondary to TBI, spinal cord injury, radiculopathy, or prostate conditions
- →Document how often per day you experience leakage and whether you use pads/diapers
- →Urinary tract infections from neurogenic bladder are also ratable
