Loss of Condyloid Process

The condyloid process is the rounded end of the lower jaw that forms the hinge of the jaw joint. Loss of one or both condyloid processes is rated at a flat 30% under DC 9908.

Exam Tips & Key Evidence

  • This is a flat-rate condition at 30% regardless of whether one or both sides are affected.
  • If the loss also causes TMJ-like symptoms, be aware that pyramiding rules may apply. You generally cannot get separate ratings for this and TMJ if they overlap.
