Prostate Conditions / Prostatitis
Prostate conditions including prostatitis and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) are rated under 38 CFR § 4.115b, Diagnostic Code 7527. Prostate cancer is a presumptive for Agent Orange exposure and is rated by analogy based on the level of dysfunction.
VA Rating Levels
10%
Slight voiding dysfunction — increased frequency, urgency, or mild hesitancy; manageable.
20%
Obstructed voiding with a weak stream, frequency, urgency, or moderate hesitancy. May require medication.
40%
Marked obstructive voiding requiring catheterization or recurrent UTIs.

- →After prostatectomy, rate residuals: incontinence (7542) and erectile dysfunction (7522) separately
- →Radiation therapy residuals (rectal damage, incontinence) are also ratable
