Gynecological Cancer

Gynecological cancer (malignant tumors of the reproductive system) is rated at 100% under DC 7627 while active and for six months after treatment ends with the cancer in remission. After that period, the VA rates based on any residual effects. Ovarian cancer in veterans exposed to ionizing radiation is a presumptive condition. Gynecological cancers are also presumptive for veterans with qualifying burn pit exposure. Separate 100% ratings for active gynecological cancer and active breast cancer are allowed at the same time. Benign tumors (DC 7628) are not compensable on their own, but secondary effects from their removal (such as lymphedema or scarring) can be rated.

  • You can hold separate 100% ratings for gynecological cancer and breast cancer at the same time. They are not considered pyramiding.
  • After the 100% temporary period, make sure all residuals (organ removal, scarring, nerve damage, etc.) are documented before your re-evaluation exam.
  • Ovarian cancer is presumptive for veterans exposed to ionizing radiation.
